Exciting week! Tuesday Connie (my AFS connection - great gal) called and said that through AFX (the scholarship) I won $1000 toward my trip! W00t! Kinda. Sra. Vander Wilt says it's a great big honking deal because
1) I could have won nothing
2) No one from Jefferson (or quite possibly Iowa) has ever won this scholarship.
To which I respond
1) I could have won $10,000
2) I think the big cities are cheating to get so many winners. Those intercity schools aren't THAT great!
And on Friday Connie called and said that AFS Germany accepted my application! That's great news - now I have to wait for a family to pick me. My profile picture was pretty cute, so it shouldn't take long.
